At the beginning of November we already talked about the uncertain position of the Renties Ypres Rally within the TER championship and today came the official confirmation. The TER championship will not come to Ypres, but will remain in Belgium
The ConXion Omloop van Vlaanderen, which was also previously assured of a place on the Open Dutch Championship calendar, will become the new Belgian appointment on the TER calendar. From 2019, the TER Championship will also be there in Historic version and the TER Historic will also come to Roeselare.
In April, the championship starts with the Rally San Remo for the historics and the Ralli Valli Cuneesi for the traditional TER championship. There are only three races, including the ConXion Omloop van Vlaanderen, that qualify for both the TER and the TER Historic. A three-year agreement has been signed with the TER.
There is clearly a new wind blowing within the board of Automobiel Club Midden Vlaanderen since the arrival of Yves Olivier as the club's new president. Upon his appointment in February, Olivier had promised that he and his team were going to make extra efforts for the 60th edition and word was kept....
Yves Olivier: "The agreement with the TER will give our event more international appeal. We are already looking forward to the battle between local pilots and TER participants. The 60th anniversary of our competition is important and we will do our best to present a challenging competition to the participants and spectators."
