After thoroughly analysing the current situation and carefully weighing pros and cons of whether or not to organise and after consulting the various municipal and provincial authorities and their relevant services, the organisers of the ConXioN Omloop van Vlaanderen(4 - 5 September) and the East Belgian Rally (25 - 26 September), have decided, with regret in their hearts, not to proceed with the respective tests.
Each organisation decided this separately for its own trial, only then was contact made with the other organisations to jointly get the news out.
The best conditions to organise a BRC-Belgian Rally Championship - taking into account the current Covid-19 pandemic - cannot be guaranteed, neither to the drivers nor to the hundreds of volunteer staff that such organisation requires.
Neither is it expedient to mobilise police forces, fire brigade, health services, doctors, nurses, etc at this corona time.
Financially, it is not obvious to organise an event where some partners/sponsors drop out financially.
Taking these hard facts into account, it was thus decided not to hold the 2020 edition of the respective rally stages. The organisers of the "TAC Rallye" and the "Rallye de Wallonie" had earlier thrown in the towel, for the same reasons.
The organisers look forward to starting the BRC Belgian Rally Championship in 2021 in better conditions, possibly with adapted/better safety conditions that may result from the current crisis.
They also thank everyone who worked to make the trials a success, not least the countless volunteer contributors.
