- Enzo Ide opens the race with Ford Puma WRC as zero car
- IDELCO becomes partner of competition in Roeselare
On 5 and 6 September, the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen will celebrate its 65th edition. The event, which has its rally centre in Roeselare and is part of the Belgian Rally Championship, will have a remarkable visitor this year: regional driver Enzo Ide will open the rally as zero car, and will do so with a Ford Puma WRC - a latest-generation car from the World Rally Championship (WRC). It is an excellent opportunity to admire this spectacular car, normally only seen in the WRC, in the north of the country.
The A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen is the oldest round of the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship and, on the occasion of its anniversary edition, it is packing in plenty of new features. Organiser Koninklijke Automobielclub Midden Vlaanderen presents a redesigned route, a historic demo race and a completely revamped website.
The biggest adjustments to the course take place on Friday, with new versions of KP Beveren and KP Zwevezele (which returns after a year's absence). On Saturday, KP Houthulst, KP Passendale and KP Rumbeke will be optimised, while KP Zilverberg and KP Zoning will remain unchanged. Safety and experience are key, with extra attention paid to realistic deployment of track posts.
KP Zoning will be the beating heart of the rally: this is where all divisions will be in action on Friday, near the service area on Zwaaikomstraat. So the ideal place for those who want to experience the spectacle for free and up close. In total, the participants will drive twenty special stages, good for some 190 kilometres against the clock.
Richard Millener, team principal of M-Sport World Rally Team:
"It is a real pleasure to see Enzo get the chance to experience a Rally1 car for the first time. These cars are extremely special, and it's always fascinating to see new faces behind the wheel at races they have a heart for. Of course it will be a steep learning curve, but with Enzo's experience I am sure he will quickly find his rhythm and enjoy the weekend. We look forward to working with him and showing the Puma Rally1 to even more fans, especially those who have not yet seen the car in action at a WRC race."
IDELCO new and strong local partner
IDELCO, one of Enzo Ide's companies, will now become a partner of the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen. "This rally is taking place in our backyard" says Enzo Ide. "It is therefore logical that we as a company want to do our bit. IDELCO is a strong name in the region and I am convinced that together we can write a great story. Moreover, I think it will be fantastic for the public, the organisers and our guests to show the Ford Puma WRC here. It will be an experience for every rally fan."
IDELCO, headquartered in Zwevezele (near Roeselare), is a leader in the production of high-quality modular and container units in Belgium. Their no-nonsense corporate style, focus on quality and innovative total solutions make them the ideal partner for this regional event. Thanks to their support, the Omloop van Vlaanderen will receive a strong organisational boost and extra visibility in the region thanks to IDELCO.In addition, IDELCO also produces insulation for walls and roofs under another business activity.
A&D Trucks and Trailers is again the title sponsor of the Omloop van Vlaanderen and the company has a heart for motorsport. The main activities of A&D Trucks and Trailers are the construction, maintenance and repair of towed equipment.
Meet up on 5 and 6 September along the special stages of the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen!
