"No more excuses not to taste the BRC"
In 2025, the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship will feature seven heats. Three of these will be held in West Flanders, while the remaining four heats will be organised in Wallonia. The three West Flanders organisers, the Tieltse Automobiel Club (TAC Rally), Club Superstage (Ardeca Ypres Rally D2) and the Koninklijke Automobielclub Midden-Vlaanderen (A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen), are joining forces to promote their Division 2 stages and make them as attractive as possible to (regional) drivers.
"We offer an interesting discount for pilots participating in the three West Flanders Division 2 races. We refund those pilots three times the cost price of a day licence, which amounts to a discount of 3 x 90 euros or 270 euros. The condition, however, is that they participate in all three Flemish Division 2 races. This way, we offer everyone the opportunity to get acquainted with our BRC races at particularly interesting conditions," says Yves Olivier, president of KAMV, organiser of the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen, where the D2 race will be held during the second day of competition. "Many untruths circulate about participating in a D2 race. With this action, we ensure that there are no more excuses not to even get a taste of a BK race."
Both in the D2 races in Tielt, Ypres and Roeselare, a lot of regional drivers came to the start to take on the challenge of a big national race. Every single one of them was enthusiastic after this experience, especially as they were able to drive very challenging and many different tests. But there is undoubtedly a lot more potential in the region and beyond.
Boudewijn Baertsoen, organiser of the TAC Rally, will host the second Division 2 competition after the Rallye des Ardennes. The TAC Rally is a D2-manche, which means competitors who enjoy the allowance will drive all the stages there. "Last season, everyone got to know about the new Division 2 championship. Clearly, as an independent D2 competition, we definitely want to make this extra effort to convince drivers to come to the start of the TAC Rally and the next D2 races in our region."
Last season, Club Superstage also organised a D2 race on Saturday, the longest stage of the Ardeca Ypres Rally. "It turned out to be the ideal formula for a lot of regional drivers to make their dream of one day driving the Ypres Rally and tasting the unique ambiance on the Grote Markt in Ypres come true at a favourable rate. With this joint action, we now offer them the chance to taste both the TAC Rally, the Ypres Rally D2 and the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen D2 at very interesting conditions," concludes Alain Penasse, president of Club Superstage.
The three West Flanders D2 tranches:
- TAC Rally (12/04)
- Ardeca Ypres Rally D2 (28/06)
- A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen D2 (6/09)
