More international appeal for 60th anniversary<\/p>\n
The Championship of Belgium Rally has rarely been as exciting and enthralling as this year and the Royal Automobile Club of Central Flanders (KAMV) is determined to organise a memorable race after the summer break with the ConXioNOmloop van Vlaanderen. The country's oldest road race will celebrate its 60th edition on 6 and 7 September.<\/p>\n
\"To mark that anniversary, we want to put together a big motorsport festival,\" the organisers announced. \"We have been working for several years to increase the international appeal of our race. This year, we will take a big step in the right direction. After all, the ConXioN Omloop van Vlaanderen will be the BRC race that counts for most championships and competitions.\"<\/p>\n
Also included in the new TER Historic<\/p>\n
The big novelty is that the ConXioNOmloop van Vlaanderen will count towards the Tour European Rally (TER) instead of the... Renties Ypres Rally. The TER is an international competition that profiles itself as an alternative to the European Championship, i.e. just below the World Championship. Launched two years ago, the competition features five (maybe six) heats in five or six different countries. The debuts open on 17-19 May in Antibes. This will be followed by the Rallye de Ferrol in Spain on 19-20 July, after which the caravan will come to Roeselare for the ConXioN Omloop van Vlaanderen. This will be followed by the Transilvania Rally (26-29\/9) in Romania and the Rallye du Valais (17-19\/10) in Switzerland.<\/p>\n
But, the good news doesn't stop there. The TER 2WD, TER Production and TER2 Cup, won last year by our compatriot Joachim Wagemans, are automatically linked to the TER. The ConXioNOmloop van Vlaanderen will also count towards the new Tour European Historic, which has six heats, only three of which coincide with TER races. The Roeselaar appointment is one of them, along with Antibes and Valais. The TER Historic has already started in the Rally Moritz Costa Brava in mid-March and the Sanremo Rally on 11-13 April. In between the Belgian and Swiss races is a second trip to Spain for the Rallye Rias Altas (5-6\/10).<\/p>\n
Dutch and English leagues also coming to Roeselare<\/p>\n
But, that's not all, as the ConXioNOmloop van Vlaanderen also welcomes the Open Dutch Championship, in which a series of beautiful top cars participate every year. And there are two \"championships\" from the British Historic Rally Car Register (HRCR) association, the Rally Masters and the Mini Sport Cup. The latter two competitions are reserved for classics carefully maintained by the British, who finish their only race outside their national borders in Roeselare. A competition on tarmac where double points will be fought for among the Minis.<\/p>\n
Porsche Event and E(lectric) Rally on the programme<\/p>\n
Nationally, the ConXioN Omloop van Vlaanderen will of course count towards the Historic BRC, the M Cup and the RACB Criterium alongside the JobFIXers Belgian Rally Championship. Without forgetting the Porsche Event, specifically for Weissach-based bolides of all types and ages, and the Sanicentrum E Rally, with which KAMV continues to innovate with a regularity competition for electric cars.<\/p>\n
The place to be on 6 and 7 September<\/p>\n
It is bound to be an exciting battle at all levels during the first weekend of September. Fans of beautiful cars will not know where to look first. The population of Roeselare, which according to the latest count is 62,300 souls, will increase by a few thousand during a few days. Some language skills are recommended to talk to the teams that will come from all corners of Europe to provide the spectacle around Roeselare and especially at the rally centre. Like last year, the nerve centre will be housed in the JB Motorsport buildings in the service park, where the show trial will also start and the stage will be set up.<\/p>\n

We want both spectators and participants to feel good about our organisation. We want to prove that a well-organised motorsport competition has its place in our society, unlike car drivers who drive irresponsibly and dangerously.\"<\/p>\n
